Expert advice on how to best use salt plates!
How to use
- In the oven:
- Heat salt plate to 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes, then increase to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
- On an electric range:
- Place salt in a cast iron pan above the heating element
- Start heating at a low temperature, then gradually increase heat until you reach your desired temperature
- On a gas range or grill:
- Heat the salt plate starting at a low flame until salt plate is warm
- Increase temperature gradually until you reach your desired temperature and then cook on for around 17-20 minutes
- After you have finished cooking with your salt plate, let it cool completely to room temperature
- Do not use soap to clean the salt plate as well as do not place into a dishwasher or submerge the salt plate in water
- Do not store salt plate on metal, copper or bronze surfaces
- Don't ever set a salt plate on direct heat. Always use a pan or place on a grill.
