You can’t beat this authentic Southern classic!

Beans and rice are the pillars of a nutritious vegetarian, high-protein meal, and you don’t need to prepare these beans with hours of soaking and cooking! Backpacker’s Pantry Louisiana Style Red Beans & Rice happens to be vegan, but you won’t miss the meat. Bring along some andouille (or any dry sausage) if you want to and make it even more authentically Cajun.

As is, Backpacker’s Pantry Louisiana Style Red Beans & Rice is vegetarian, gluten-free, and perfectly spicy. All you need is 1 1/4 cups of boiling water and 10-15 minutes hydration time. Take it along on a hike for a quick, great-tasting hot lunch, or serve it alongside a freshly caught trout. The addition of cheese, sour cream or some fresh veggies make an even more substantial meal.

Students will appreciate the convenience of a tasty hot meal of beans and rice, as will any back country adventurer or traveler. So versatile and easy to store, it is optimal for long-term food storage. Dairy free. Wheat free. Nut free. Soy free. And best of all, it is also non-GMO!
